Why before what: Investing in Kingdom People
Lovers and leaders is a not-for-profit ministry dedicated to working alongside Kingdom people to help them to flourish as individuals and, where appropriate to their calling, to build enterprises that encompass in their vision extending the Kingdom of God. Whether your ministry is for profit or not-for-profit, whether commercial, community or church, we have experience of working in all these areas.
Lovers and leaders expresses our heart’s desire to strengthen, stimulate and help entrepreneurs and leaders to love God first, to love people, and to be excellent in leading in the Kingdom.
As the founder I want to set out what I wish I had known 30 years ago when I started out on my journey as an entrepreneur. We want to work with entrepreneurs who are determined to do business in a way that honours God, honours people, is faithful to biblical teaching and produces fruitfulness, while at the same time keeping a reasonable work-life balance. If you want to be a contributor to the Kingdom in a consumer culture, then we believe that we can help you.
About Nick
Nick was born and brought up in North Birmingham, becoming a follower of Jesus just before he went to University. He worked for 12 years at the University of Surrey before he and his wife Helen were called to leave Kings Church, Aldershot to join a growing community in a church plant in Northampton. Unable to find work in a commutable distance he took the plunge and went self-employed with a month’s salary as capital, a mortgage and a growing family! The business grew to two limited companies, three UK offices and clients in the UK, Europe, the Middle and Far East. For 30 years he was Principal UK Expert on European and International Standards in his field of expertise.
At the same time, he became elder and director of the church with a growing teaching and preaching profile. Nick is Deputy Director UK and Europe for Financial Sozo and is a Core Team Member of Stephen De Silva’s ministry based in Redding, California. He also mentors, equips and coaches entrepreneurs and church leaders, and is a Coach within the CREO Collective. For many years he has been committed to seeing disciples live in the reality of the life that Jesus provides for us and demonstrating the fulness of the Kingdom of God in every sphere in which we operate.
He is blessed with three grown up children passionately following Jesus, and two grandchildren. He enjoys travel, music, reading, engaging discussion and relaxing with family and friends with a good coffee or glass of wine!
Entrepreneurs
As Kingdom entrepreneurs we are uniquely placed to demonstrate the Kingdom of God to those with whom we interact. Jesus calls us to disciple nations, so we are those who are to reshape the culture around us in the business sphere. This is not an easy calling, but it is one which has to be grasped! God has positioned us with a prophetic voice in front of fellow business leaders both in the world at large and in the church.
My blog presents insight into what I learned, both by success and by failure, by learning and unlearning, and tries to set out what are the key characteristics of a Kingdom entrepreneur. I hope that you will receive this as someone listening to your father or grandfather. My book “Risk, reward and values” will be published in June 2021 and is available to purchase on this site.
It has been my goal to pass on my legacy to those who will receive it. If you find hope, courage and strength through reading this I will be delighted! My prayer is that you will be divinely inspired and anointed to join the journey and make Jesus known personally to many others as you walk the road marked ‘entrepreneur’.
